Poshmark Launches Posh Now, Providing Shoppers With Live Updates From Seller Stylists

In 2016, one in every 100 fashion items bought by women in the U.S. was listed on Poshmark. With the massive influx of merchandise, Poshmark debuts new social innovation alerting shoppers the moment their favorite sellers list new items.

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., – Jan. 31, 2017 – Today Poshmark, the largest social marketplace where anyone can buy, sell and share their personal style, launches Posh Now, a live content experience for commerce, providing the community with instant, in-app updates from Seller Stylists who are listing live in the app, so shoppers can scoop up fresh merchandise and the best deals before they’re sold out.

Every seller on Poshmark is a Seller Stylist, not only selling their personal style, but also curating items for their customers. Every day, over two million Seller Stylists curate millions of items on Poshmark, creating one of the largest and most personal online fashion malls. Given the massive amount of inventory being added daily, shoppers wanted a way to stay updated when their favorite Seller Stylists were uploading new items, so they wouldn’t miss out due to high-demand. It wasn’t until Ashton Kutcher launched his closet on the app and his inventory sold out within seconds that the platform saw the need for live, in-app updates, instantly alerting shoppers when new merchandise is available.

Consumers are demanding a more real-time connection evident in the trend towards live, social content. Social leaders Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat have shown real-time curation around photos, videos and entertainment is necessary to keep an engaged audience. Posh Now brings the same outlook to the fashion industry, solving the current disconnect between shoppers and sellers struggling to find an exciting and efficient way to communicate when new inventory is uploaded to the platform. A fashion-first, Posh Now draws from billions of social connections made on the app daily, to produce a digital look-book for its massive mobile community. This complements the company’s first innovation around Posh Parties, virtual shopping events where the community meets in-app to shop, share and sell fashion, and builds on Poshmark’s live mobile experience to connect shoppers and sellers in real-time.

“As consumers adopt the live sharing trend across social media platforms, we realized the incredible demand from the Poshmark community to also engage in real-time to build deeper connections around personal style,” said Manish Chandra, founder and CEO of Poshmark. “Posh Now allows any Seller Stylist to instantly share new inventory as soon as it’s live, enabling their customers to have a more connected shopping experience every time they open the app.”

How Posh Now works:

  • On Poshmark’s main feed, shoppers will see a real-time look-book of sellers they follow who have added new merchandise in the last 24 hours.
  • By clicking on a Seller Stylist’s profile who is currently listing, they are instantly shown what new merchandise has been added.
  • Posh Now is data-driven and hyper personalized, pulling from previous social engagements, purchases and searches to connect shoppers with the right people and inventory that matches their interests.

Along with helping shoppers better discover new inventory, Posh Now is an innovation for Poshmark Seller Stylists, a thriving community of fashion influencers, to better connect with their customers. Seller Stylists are the driving force behind Poshmark, helping re-create personal shopping connections often lost in e-commerce. Seller Stylists not only drive sales for themselves, but also help drive sales for other people on the platform by curating over five million items across the marketplace daily. That type of social interaction helps lead to better discovery for buyers and more sales for sellers – with a sale currently made every few seconds on the app.

Poshmark constantly provides new social features for its community to enhance the in-app experience, resulting in a level of engagement that’s currently unheard of in fashion – the community spends 25 minutes per day in the app, opening it an average of 7-8 times daily.
