Sometimes someones style makes you want to raid their closet. A Menlo Park-based startup lets you do that right from your smartphone. Poshmark is an online consignment store where fashionistas can buy and sell clothing and accessories in all styles, sizes and prices.
By now you know that here at R29 SF, we have some major love in our hearts for North Beach boutique ACRE/SF. And we’re also crazy curious about the new locally based iPhone shopping app, Poshmark, which allows you to clean out your closet from the comfort of your…well, palm. And now, it looks like the two of these shopping destinations (one physical, one digital) are joining forces and throwing the first-ever live “Posh Party” this Wednesday, February 29.
You know that überstylish friend who’s your exact size and who always lets you raid her closet? Yeah, we don’t have one of those, either. But the new startup Poshmark, based in Menlo Park, makes buying (and selling) previously worn clothing nearly that simple, without the scam potential of eBay or the drag of shlepping things to consignment stores.
Poshmark. What it is: You can sell items from your closet with your phone (and buy stuff from others like a swap meet). What it’s like: eBay meets Instagram. Who’s involved/Why it’s promising: Raised $3.5 million in Series A financing, former Kaboodle CEO.
