If there’s one thing we are over here at Refinery29 S.F., it’s fashion-app-happy (ahem, peep here if you don’t believe us), and the latest style-meets-tech mashup that’s caught our attention is that of Menlo Park-based app Poshmark.
The Menlo Park-based company specializes in a mobile fashion marketplace built around real-time social experiences. The company offers Posh Parties, or themed, real-time shopping events where groups can shop, share and sell from their mobile devices.
Poshmark is an app that wants to bring the experience of clothing swapping to your phone. The app allows sellers to seamlessly upload an image of an item they want to sell, make it look fancy with a filter and fill out details like Original price, Listing price, Category and Size. After they press send, the item gets posted to the Poshmark feed and other users can bid on it.
Any good spring cleaner enjoys weeding out a load of clothes, shoes and bags that still have life in them, but are just taking up closet space. Poshmark launched today with $3.5 million in funding to let anyone sell their old items.
Poshmark turns the hassle of fashion resale into an easy digital experience all within the comfortable confines of an iPhone. Created by the same brains behind social fashion website Kaboodle, Poshmark came to life “so that anyone can easily convert their closet into a stylish boutique with their phones,” according to founder and CEO Manish Chandra.
