“I’m getting in the mix with the Aussie Poshmark community by launching my very own Poshmark closet in Australia where I will be donating all proceeds to a cause I feel strongly about – mental health. One of the items I’m listing in my Australian Posh Closet for Charity are the Silver PE NikeCourt Flare 2 sneakers designed by Virgil Abloh as part of the “Queen” Collection that I wore in the 2018 US Open.”
Who: Barkha Saxena, Chief Data Officer. Disruptive element: Creating an online shopping community. “We have built a social marketplace that breathes new life into millions of items while creating an opportunity for anyone to both make money and join a community of people with a passion for shopping. In the beginning, the founding team would personally reach out to and onboard community members one at a time. Shortly thereafter, the magic of Poshmark’s innovative social model took off and our community helped expand our base through word of mouth — and continues to do so today.”
DJ Khaled is doing some spring cleaning, which is great news for those looking to cop his style. The Grammy-winning entertainer has updated his Poshmark charity closet with personal garments many fans will find familiar. The new batch of inventory includes designs from Khaled’s music videos, red carpet appearances, and the cover art shoot for his Father of Asahd studio album. All proceeds will go toward We the Best Foundation, Khaled’s nonprofit organization that aims to support and empower underserved communities.
eBay, Etsy, Mercari, OfferUp and Poshmark said they’ve formed The Coalition to Protect America’s Small Sellers, or PASS Coalition, to address what they see as unfair rules that could harm small sellers. “Requiring our sellers — many of whom are women casually selling items from their closets — to publicly disclose personally identifiable information is of great concern as doing so may compromise their privacy, security and ability to thrive,” said Coalition founding member Amber McCasland, vice president of communications at Poshmark. “We believe it is possible to achieve policy solutions that both consider and protect the interests of America’s small online sellers.”
“Where we really focus is how social enables and unlocks commerce. There’s very few places where you can socially engage and have every engagement point you do translate into a better shopping experience for you — and that’s where Poshmark comes in. The shift to online that was already happening and exploded during the pandemic is not going to go back. Some sort of hybrid is going to happen, and this is where innovation is really possible.”
