With over 6 million items for sale, the fastest growing marketplace for fashion offers free authentication service, making designer resale lucrative for sellers and effortless for buyers

MENLO PARK, Calif.—December 4, 2014—Today Poshmark, the largest destination for buying, selling and styling women’s fashion, launches Posh Concierge, a free luxury authentication service for high-end handbags, accessories and other designer items. Poshmark’s massive inventory of women’s clothing and accessories makes it one of the biggest fashion malls in the world with over 500,000 boutiques open for business, where millions of women come to connect, discover new styles together and shop from one another. Posh Concierge further extends the social shopping experience into high-end luxury, creating personalized boutiques for such revered brands like Chanel, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Gucci – making the mobile marketplace the go-to destination for designer fashion.

Posh Concierge builds on Posh Protect, the marketplace’s buyer protection guarantee. It adds a new layer of verification and authentication for luxury items on Poshmark – a groundbreaking service that changes how luxury is bought and sold online. With this new service, women now have the extraordinary peace of mind they’d find in a designer consignment store when shopping Poshmark’s half a million boutiques, and sellers receive the best value for their luxury items.

Poshmark’s commission is half that of traditional luxury consignment shops, and offers a sharp contrast to the hundreds or even thousands of dollars in extra costs associated with these consignment shops to get the assurance of authenticity. For example, when selling the iconic “classic flap” Chanel handbag on Poshmark, a seller can list the bag for $4,500 and walk away with $3,600 – 80% of the sale price – no matter what. This is more than a thousand dollars above what they would typically get in a traditional designer consignment shop.

To celebrate the launch of Posh Concierge, Poshmark is creating one of the largest Chanel boutiques in the country – giving shoppers access to over 17,000 Chanel items across 8,000 Poshmark closets that carry Chanel inventory.

How Posh Concierge works:

  • When an order for an item over $500 is placed, the seller receives a pre- paid, pre-addressed shipping label to send the item to Poshmark
  • Once Poshmark receives the item, it verifies and authenticates the item within 24-48 hours
  • When the item is approved, Poshmark the buyer, Poshmark packages the item and ships it to buyer.

“I am thrilled that Poshmark is launching Posh Concierge. Selling my designer items on a marketplace like Poshmark is important to me because I can control my prices, creatively merchandise, and interact directly with my customers,” said Dani Greene, avid Poshmark seller of luxury items and owner of Curated Luxe LLC. “With Posh Concierge, my customers can now be 100% confident that what they’re purchasing is authentic, a reassurance that they won’t find on other peer-to-peer marketplaces.”

Unlike other luxury consignment websites, Poshmark lets sellers control their prices and manage inventory. Interested buyers can directly engage with sellers to negotiate prices, discuss product details and ask other questions. These social interactions feel much like shopping in a physical store and put buyers at ease when purchasing big-ticket items from sellers they’ve never met before. This new offering positions the company as a leader in luxury resale due to its pricing, inventory and simplicity.

“When it comes to buying and selling luxury merchandise, credibility is critical. Poshmark now matches the assurance that has existed in traditional consignment shops but at half the price,” said Manish Chandra, Founder and CEO of Poshmark. “By empowering our community of 500,000 sellers to set their own prices and run their own designer boutiques from all across America, Poshmark continues to change how fashion is bought and sold.

Poshmark’s Posh Concierge is now automatically available free of charge for all items over $500. For more information, check out www.poshmark.com.
